I’m going to make this short and sweet. These chest tubes are a son of a bitch.
Sweet Stella had a long, painful and restless night. For about four hours Adam and I had to hold down her arms and legs while she kept trying to sit up or get comfortable. Every little flinch incurred intense and obvious pain and she wasn’t having it. It was heartbreaking. I think we finally found a sweet spot with her pain medications and are praying she can rest and potentially wean off precedex (the medication keeping her sedated - I’m not sure it’s even working), and maybe sit up or move around. The sooner her lungs can expand and she can be active, the faster the tubes will drain and come out.
We knew this would be hard - and Stella is one tough cookie. But I’m handing out a Harper-Avery to anyone who invents a way to drain chest tubes faster š♥️
Enough Greys Anatomy sarcasm for now. Thanks for checking in on our girl!
Poor sweet little Stella...looking forward to when these times are just a memory.
